Why do smart people tend to be quiet?

Upon reading the responses, I'm startled. None of the articles I read addressed what, in my opinion, is the real cause of why intelligent individuals tend to be the more reserved members of their societies.

They do this to blend in because they learn early on that being overly intelligent is a social challenge. Because of this, gifted kids are known to suffer socially.

😜😜😜😜

Picking their battles is a practice that many intelligent individuals adopt because if they participate in every discussion by outsmarting everyone else with their knowledge, they would soon be viewed as arrogant and a know-it-all. Many intelligent people find it difficult to speak at all without appearing to be pointing out the IQ gap to everyone else. Being mentally superior is, in my opinion, a social liability in a way that being physically superior is not. This is supported by some data. This means that being an athlete around non-athletes is simpler than being a brainiac around non-brainiacs. One automatically perceives someone who is overly intelligent as arrogant and conceited.

Some intelligent people find it difficult to conceal their intelligence. It's ingrained in the way they speak. the organization of their sentences. the rhythm they employ. their lexicon. When that happens, a brilliant person may decide to listen more and speak less in order to avoid having their intelligence overshadow them in the company of others. Therefore, their intelligence is not a huge deal.
